Product description

Shirayuki s story continues in the beautifully animated second season of Snow White with the Red Hair. After Zen confessed his feelings for her, the young herbalist continued her studies and the prince doubled his efforts to keep up with her pace. But just as everything seemed to be falling into place, Shirayuki s happily ever after is put on hold. An old enemy has resurfaced with grave news that a mysterious boy has been searching for a girl with apple-red hair but his intentions are unknown. With the kingdom of Clarines on high alert, an invitation arrives from Tanbarun that Shirayuki is to be the guest of honor at Prince Raj s upcoming ball. Preparing for the boorish prince s ball is one thing, but nothing could have prepared Shirayuki for the grander adventure to come. When the mysterious boy finally catches up with her, the beautiful maiden is swept into a harrowing journey that will put her face to face with her past as she determines what her future holds. Contains episodes 13 to 24 on Blu-Ray with both the English dub and the original Japanese track with English subtitles.

Funny, action adventure anime with some heavy stuff thrown in for good measure.

What can I say. It's a great series.
  • Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 December 2017
This series is family-friendly. In the world of anime, it is very uncommon for a series to be rated PG, but this one is.

It's in a way as good as season 1. The animation is superb, as usual, and all the characters you love are there, with new ones added!

The English dub is good, though not on par with Your Lie in April or Death Note. The word 'path' is still excessively used, which is quite annoying, especially towards the end, but it's not a big deal here.

You'll love Prince Raj's character development here. He's probably the best thing in this season (in contrast to the first season, which he started out as a villain.)

The music is nice but not really memorable.

The story... has the same tone as season 1. Mostly romance with a small bit of action. If you ship Zen and Shirayuki, you'll LOVE this, but it didn't really hit me as I'm not normally into romance and I don't ship anyone in the series, so...

Also, Shirayuki appears a little weaker compared to season 1. She acts more like a stereotypical princess here, waiting for princes to come and rescue her as opposed to being proactive. This is a slight letdown as I love seing female characters who can stand by themselves.

The last few episodes are a bit dragging. Feels as if they are just fillers for the series to have 24 episodes in total. I think the series could've ended by episode 20.

Zen's brother could've used more development. He's still an indifferent and callous character as ever. Plus, their relationships are still comical to watch (not in a positive way.) Zen is usually overly formal towards his brother. Even if his brother is the crown prince and Zen doesn't like him much, I don't think that's how siblings talk. Always strikes me as awkwardly formal and pretentious even in the fairy-tale society. And where are the boys' parents (i.e. the King and the Queen?) If they have passed away, why doesn't Zen's brother become king? I know there may be more details in the manga but since this is the last series of the anime, I would appreciate an explanation here.

Other than those, a joyful and fun series at a decent price (£19.99 at the time of writing.)

    Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Continuation of a Strong Shoujo

A wonderful second season to a fantastic show featuring a female lead. She is strong in her own means, wishing to achieve her own goals and striving forward without sacrificing her dreams just for romance. The main relationship features a very healthy dynamic of two people very in love and walking alongside each other as they work towards their own goals and their hopes of standing together in the future.
This season featured my favorite arc, so I was very excited to see it become animated. Please consider picking this up to support the series. It offers both the English and Japanese audio.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best anime ever!!!

This is a lovely story of a commoner girl and a prince. The animation is beautifully done and the script is just wonderful. I whole heartily recommend this and the previous season and am looking (hopefully) foreword to the next. One thing that stands out, is the characters honesty. Through out the whole the characters trust each other, this is few and fare between in most stories and is quite refreshing. I give this a 10 out of 10 in excellence!

I love this anime so much! And Season Two did an amazing job at building on Season One! I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that we get a third season. I need more Shirayuki, Zen, and the gang in my life!
