    Totally brilliant book for all the reasons stated in the other 5 star reviews. I started to read this to my son when he was about 3.5years old when I felt he needed longer stories that stretched him (while still being well supported by picture). Not sure it would have suited him much younger than this and I guess it would go up to about 7 years. For the first 6 months any story was guaranteed to send him peacefully off to sleep, it was like some magic trick!! He has since become immune to this effect but they still usually have a calming influence on him. The stories and illustrations also continue to entertain me even though we read it a lot. There in a second mumsnet book made again from a story writing completion, "bedtime stories" and I could give that an identical review, both great story selections - please mumsnet keep running the completions and producing great books.

    I read this as a bedtime story with my DS (5) over a few nights and he loved the stories and variety of charectors.

    My DD (8) read this to herself in one sitting and "enjoyed it a lot!".

    I thought that this would be a great Christmas present for my 2.5 year old little boy who loves stories about animals, and I was convinced into buying it given the rave reviews on amazon uk. How wrong I was!
    My first impression was that there is significantly more words than pictures in the book. Ok, I thought, maybe I could give him this when he's a bit older. Then I started to read the stories.... Well, to be fair, the first one called Little Miss Wolfy Good. I honestly can't understand how anyone can think that this makes a good bedtime story for a toddler/young child. It's not a cuddly warm story, and certainly not one that I would want to read to my child.
    I would recommend that you try and see a copy of this book before you buy it. I don't usually return books, but this one I did, with some relief!

    This is a lovely book. The stories are warm and humorous and appealed just as much to my seven year old son as my five year old daughter. We have really enjoyed sharing this book at bedtime.

    My daughter 4.5 loved this book the sleepy hedgehog and meerkat stories are firm favourites already. With such variety I can see as she grows her taste will change and she will appreciate the others more and more. Great value for money.

    This is a wonderful book. My (2&4) girls absolutely loved reading it, and it's become a firm favourite over the past few nights at home. Meerkat has become my daughter's favourite story!

    収録された物語は、イギリスらしいユーモアあふれるもの、異国情緒豊かなもの、幻想的なものなど多様だが、いずれも構想がよく練れている。イラストのスタイルも物語同様多様だが、それぞれ物語にマッチしている。とくに第3話"The Hedgehog Who Wouldn't Sleep"はイラスト自体が芸術作品として独立に楽しめる完成度の高いものになっている。

    童話なので英語も平易であり、中学生でも読み進められるレベルである。年齢を問わず薦められる良書である。
