- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 November 2014In this excellent book Sibel Edmonds explains how the American government was warned by foreign intelligence sources prior to 9/11 about imminent attacks in the US involving aircraft and high-rise buildings and how they actively turned away the information.
For example, her FBI Head of Unit, special agent in charge, Thomas Frields was probably following instructions when he said, "We never got any warnings. These conversations never existed; it never happened, period. No one should ever mention a word about this, period. Never!" - and this was apart from other foreign intelligence agencies delivering warnings that weren't covered in the book.
The greater part of the account deals with her efforts to use official channels whether in the FBI or Congress to alert the government to blocked 911 information and other items concerning large scale theft and sale of government secrets. She doesn't get much or any support, with the thieves turning on her and getting her fired from the FBI.
Basically, she is that rarest of people, an American citizen who can put her national loyalty ahead of her personal interests.
It was made 100% clear to her that it was in her interest to shut up, ignore what was happening, follow instructions, accept what she was told and take the promotion on offer, so it was a particularly tough situation to fight, since as an ex FBI employee she couldn't legally reveal government secrets to make her case and the problem is visible throughout the book.
Interestingly it is also a problem for her opponents who would really like to get her out of circulation in totalitarian style and can't.
To understand some of this, maybe its useful to take a step back. Shouldn't the US government be interested in information about the biggest terror attack in the United States history? Shouldn't the press be looking at every detail of this attack? Why does the government only reluctantly accept and inquiry into events over a year later and dictate the outcome? Shortly afterwards the US attacked Iraq by mistake? (no WMD) so where was the inquiry into the fabricated WMD story and its immediate mass publication?
The plain obvious answer is in Edmond's book (and elsewhere) and it is that an important section of the US government knew that 911 was coming. It suited their purposes as the trigger for launching the pre-prepared WMD story/Iraq war, the "War on Terror", the Patriot Act and the mass destruction of American constitutional rights.
The book doesn't spell it out, but the WMD story wasn't the only item that was prepared in advance of the 9/11 attack.
World Trade Center Building 7 was the third tower that collapsed that day shortly after the aircraft hit the other two. The obvious controlled demolition process was so at variance with the government account that 1500 outraged architects and structural engineers formed an organization stating that the government story was a lie. They are familiar with the properties of structural steel, melting temperatures, thermite residue, falling resistance etc. and they have no doubt that this building was deliberately brought down. Its more than interesting to Google "Building 7" and follow the document and video trail.
On page 277 the author asks, "How do we get through to those that have readily accepted the despotism being marketed to them as security?" and this is a really interesting question.
One way may be to stop using labels like "The National Whistleblowers Center". Surely the "Patriot Act" and "Homeland Security" sound much better to a general audience so perhaps Edmonds could recheck the basic rules of Doublespeak.
Also "whistleblowing" and criticising elected governments and representatives (while exposing this and that) is mostly seen as negative and uninspiring. Maybe its better to directly enter politics with clear and positive policies (American Independence Party? - as in independence from special interests) funded by individual small contributions and powered by grass-roots volunteers.
So altogether a very worthwhile book and highly recommended.
UPDATE 8th December 2014
I'm probably one of the last people to see this video but it clearly supports Edmonds story; YouTube "CIA Lindauer Extreme Prejudice". CIA insider Lindauer shows that Edmonds very much understates the secret servic pre-knowledge of the WTC attacks, and that they were enabled and guided to conclusion with Iraq immediately identified as a guilty party (Lindauer makes 100% clear Iraq had nothing to do with it).
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 November 2015This was pre-Snowden. An auto-bio which tells of how 9/11 meant that the democratic rights of USA citizens were expendable due to security being regarded as so important. Edmonds is quickly recruited into translating urgent messages and documents. She finds that the info for attacking skyscrapers was known but not passed on. She sees that corruption and enemy within makes the protection of the country extremely weak. Enemy spies are operating within the department and people in positions of power in the US administration are on the payroll of enemy organisations. Her life becomes unbearable as she seeks to expose all the things which harm the country by the bodies which should be protecting it. They regard her as a troublemaker rather than a positive whistle-blower. The last half of the book is the legal struggle by her to protect herself from overwhelming forces, and try and inform the US people what was going on under Bush. She tries hard to get the info out whilst putting her life in danger. The CIA and the FBI regard her as an enemy of the state. Her book was refused by all publishers so in the end she had to publish it herself. She was stunned to realise that in the land of the free that she wasn't and that her rights are merely lent not given. All this was before Snowden came on to the scene. I recommend it totally. One good-looking tough cooky.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 November 2017An amazing book, the most extraordinary I have read for some time. The authoress is corroborated by Inspector General reporting, and other official sources.
She is a remarkably resilient and patient warmaiden of justice and transparency.
She has all but been stifled by the combination of a lazy and careless media, corrupt politicians on both sides of the aisle, and worst of all a complicit and deeply corrupted judiciary.
Her writing is a detailed, precise but scorching indictment of the depth of rot and corruption in the Department of Justice and the FBI.
However the stench of decadence from the Depts of Defence and State, the lapdog TV & newspaper media, and much of the two Houses of Congress and their organs reeks to high Heaven.
If you care about the USA and its future, read it!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 August 2012I bought this ebook after reading about Sibel on Truthout. This account will both make your jaw drop in sheer disbelief at the extent of corruption, and your blood boil that the land of the free has been manipulated by its own government to be anything but free.
There is a truth in the quote "Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely". The tenet of the constitution that the government is of the people for the people is nothing more now than lip service, and in a country with such a violent world history and weapons coming out of its teeth, the potential consequences for all of us are dire.
Listen to what she has to say, while it is still possible to hear it. Perhaps think a little. Most of all, listen to news agencies that aren't owned by Fox.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sibel Edmonds A True American Patriot
First to qualify my review; I am NOT an avid reader and can count, probably on one hand, the books I felt compelled to read in one sitting, THIS IS CLEARLY ONE.
Over the past 2-3 years I have been trying to educate myself about what is really happening in the USA and in the world. Through my efforts it has become clear to me major events in this country are quite often not what they seem to be. And what appears in the main stream media is often false for whatever reason(s). As a Vietnam era veteran I was more than appalled to learn we (USA) entered the Vietnam conflict based on lies, known to be lies by those people in our government who gave the orders to involve us. I have come to believe our government is no longer "Of the people, by the people and for the people" as it was originally intended.
That said, first I find Sibel Edmonds to be an incredible patriot and person of immense strength and integrity. She's amazing, her story is amazing and I truly don't know many people who would or could buck the system the way she did to bring the truth to light. Thanks to Sibel we not only know of events that were and are detrimental to the security of our country but we also know the names of many of those who clearly and consciously violate their oath to uphold our Constitution and some who even betray the nation and it's security.
For years I have believed "If you're not part of the solution you're part of the problem". Sometimes we find ourselves part of the problem unintentionally or don't even know we are part of the problem. When it comes to the problems our country faces today I must admit, like the rest of the 'silent majority' I have unwittingly been part of the problem. Sibel Edmonds clearly represents part of the solution. The crimes, complacency, nepotism, incompetence, indifference and corruption she exposes in her book are almost unimaginable. I'm not sure that I would have believed her story if I hadn't already uncovered many, many instances of similar events to those she experienced while working for the FBI's Washington Field Office. It appears some elements of our government have become a sewer system and Sibel goes into great detail in telling us about the biggest rats in that system.
I believe everyone who has an interest in the future of the USA should read this book. Any person who reads this book and still feels we are the 'land of the free and home of the brave' must have skipped most every page. IMO Sibel Edmonds is clearly one of the bravest people in modern history. It appears Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826) had it exactly right when he said "Whenever a man has cast a longing eye on offices, a rottenness begins in his conduct." Sibel has given us a substantial list of 'elected' officials who should be thrown out in their next re-election bid. She has also provided a list on non-elected individuals who should be thrown out ASAP by their handlers (although the latter is unlike to happen until 'we the people' clean-up our government.
My recommendations: 1. Buy and read the book. 2. Remember the names of those who opposed and thwarted Sibel. 3. Be part of the solution and help (vote to) get those individuals out of office.
Hats off to Sibel for her courage and for this great book!!!
