    What a book, I love dark and twisted romance and this didn't disappoint. Loved Dante, a proper alpha bad boy, but deep down hidden secrets which create a depth to his character which you don't always get in other dark romance! I did struggle at times with Eve though, I felt she fell a little too quickly for Dante and wished she had put up more of a struggle or resistance. The storyline has lots of twists and turns which kept me turning the pages. I really can't wait to see how this develops in the next book!

    So when I first started this book I was a little distracted so it took me a few chapters to get into it. I wanted answers from the first chapter. Anyway not being one to give up I pushed through until I hit 25% and BOOM - I couldn’t put it down. I was intrigued to find out was going to happen and I literally read the next 75% in two sittings Inbetween preparing and dishing up Sunday lunch.

    I wasn’t sure how to feel about Dante at first I wasn’t even sure I liked him, I’ll be honest, but after 40% my feelings began to change and I was rooting for him. My heart belongs with Joseph though, Dante’s right hand.

    Does Dante get redeemed and will Dante and Eve get their happy ending? I’m not gonna tell ya, get reading and find out!
    When I sit and read the best part of a book in a day and one that can keep me gripped and intrigued I class that as a win!

    I have never read any of the author before The Santiago series.
    I have had the 1st book on my kindle for a while, I was in a book funk, read the blub and started reading.... I can not believe I didn't read it sooner.
    I read all 3 books in 3 days, my house is a mess, I stayed up late and didn't slept after working a night shift just so I could read. When I wasn't reading I was thinking about it. The story was amazing, loved the characters Dante is hot I want one lol. The twist and turns were so good you don't see them coming. Don't even get me started on the sex scenes.... They are hot!!!!
    Amazing writing, really enjoyed reading these 3 books and look forward to read more from the author.
    Don't hesitate click and starting reading you will not be disappointed!

    A great story. Eve Miller is a reporter, she looking for answers and is intent on revenge for the death of her brother. Unlucky for Eve she’s in the wrong place at the wrong time.     This book is a rollercoaster, a very dark scary rollercoaster full of emotion. It’s Intense, angsty, hot, sexy and just downright mind-blowingly fabulous.
    A few times I got a little teary eyed (not necessarily at the sad parts) Manuel, nooo…oh I want to cry. The devastation I felt, still feel.

    I've only recently found Catherine Wiltcher and after reading a few of her other books I decided it was time to read all about Mob Boss Dante Santiago!
    Local journalist Eve has her world flipped upside down one night by being in the wrong place at the wrong time.. who knew buying a bottle of champagne would bring hot alpha Dante into her life!
    Nothing is ever easy when you live the life that Dante does so he starts to feel conflict when he can't get Eve out his mind but also doesn't want to let her into his world.
    Leaving us hooked and begging for more I really can't wait to jump into book 2 now to see whats next for this couple.

    Oh. My. God. I loved this book. I fell in love with Catherines words when I came across A London Villain a few months ago. I told myself I would read everything she has written. So I started with this series as Dante made an appearance in ALV.
    I'm in love with Dante. What a man! He's bossy, all alpha and all of that BDE. He is everything! He's swoony and that mouth 🥵. Don't even get me started on Eve, she is so special!! What a start to a series. Can't wait to read more!!

    Dante is an absolute beast of a man who literally doesn't feel much beyond what he feels for Eve BUT it does not mean he is incapable of it but rather he refuses to let himself or doesn't believe he deserves it.

    There is a lot of spice in this book, and it starts off pretty early on. They both, despite their massive differences, have a lot of physical chemistry that slowly morphs into an emotional one even if Dante refuses to acknowledge things and push Eve away.

    Rereading this I have to say Catherine was amazing when she first wrote this trilogy, but she has gotten as the years have gone on. If you have never read her books please pick them up, you won't be disappointed!

    This is not a stand-alone read. It is the first part of a trilogy about a drug kingpin and the investigative reporter sworn to bring his empire down for the death of her brother. There is no cheating between the main characters and the story does end on a cliffhanger. Fortunately the other stories are available immediately, so that is the benefit to finding this fabulous writer and her stories years after they began.

    ⛔️ Contains references to, or detailed scenes, with subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some, including: adult language; derogatory terms; steamy adult intimate scenes with dominance, submission, restraints, sensory deprivation, spanking for pleasure and punishment; masochism, sadism, dubious consent, etc.; A LOT of violence throughout stereotypical of the genre such as: kidnapping, abduction, murder, assault, theft, torture, drug use, drug manufacturing, drug distribution, money laundering, gun running, mafia wars, blackmail, threats, subterfuge, betrayal, etc.

    There are a few grammatical issues, primarily missing and extra inserted words, but nothing difficult to interpret. I am trying to make sure I mention these for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow.

    As I mentioned earlier there is a lot of violence throughout, from the beginning to the end of the story. The world building is solid and ever evolving with multiple POVs. In between there are twists, complex characters, chemistry, jealousy, obsession, innocence, evil, guilt, frustration, heroism, corruption, anger, innocence lost, love, hatred, friendship, trust, grief, allies, and betrayal.

    I wish I would have discovered this series when it was first released, but then I would have had to wait for the next addition in the trilogy. Lucky me I can start as soon as my neck will allow … and I can’t wait!

    Catherine Wiltcher Book 1, Heart of Darkness in the Santiago Trilogy is a great read. If you don’t like dominating, possessive angry a#$holes then this probably isn’t the book for you but I was more than happy to drawl over Dante for a day or two. It’s fast paced, vicious and violent in a lot of parts and wickedly spicy in even more. Eve emerges as a strong likeable mc who faces her own demons as she dances with the devil. Thank goodness it’s nearly the weekend, I’m ready for Book 2.
