Product description
Set in the future in a time of interplanetary colonisation, Sy (Kellan Lutz, The Twilight Saga, The Expendables 3), escapes a brutal prison where mysterious experiments have been taking place under the watch of a savage warden (Temuera Morrison, Star Wars Episodes 2 & 3, Once Were Warriors). After orchestrating an escape, Sy meets Kane (Daniel MacPherson, The Shannara Chronicles), a lieutenant working for an off-world military contractor - EXOR, who have set in motion a plan to wipe out all life from the face of the planet in an attempt to cover up their crimes - when their terrifying “experiments” escape.
Now, the unlikely pair must work together to rescue Kane’s young daughter, Indi (Teagan Croft, Home and Away), and reach safety before it’s too late. Teaming up with a pair of rough-and-ready outlaws, Gyp (Isabel Lucas, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen) and Bill (Luke Ford, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor), it’s a race against time for the group as they clash with EXOR in an attempt to escape while battling the savage creatures that roam the barren planet.
From writer-director Shane Abbess (Infini, Gabriel), Origin Wars is a brand new science-fiction adventure set in a fantastically realised, and wholly original, universe. Featuring intense aerial dog-fights, hard-hitting action, impressive practical effects and an extraordinary cast, Origin Wars offers a thrilling experience in sci-fi adventure.
"Inventive and fast-moving; fans of Firefly should definitely check this out!"

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 August 2017Exactly what it says on the box
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 August 2017Underrated sci-fi movie, a worthy addition to your blu-ray collection.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 August 2017Better than expected
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 August 2017Started off with promise but ultimately pretty dull and generic, by the time the rubber monsters arrived I had lost any enthusiasm for this. A cross between star wars and mad max it certainly isn't. Dogfight scene aside it didn't generate any excitement and the final scene was laughable.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 August 2017Set some time in the future when Earth has colonised planets beyond it's solar-system -
Kane (Daniel Mcpherson) works for a off-world military contractor 'Exor', he is a lieutenant, his family, wife and young daughter
moved from Earth to live on the planet overseen by 'Exor' to be with Kane.
However mistakes have been made, 'Exor' plan to destroy all life on the planet to cover-up their actions which Kane learns of,
knowing there to be less than 24 hours before this happens Kane deserts his post and sets out to try and save his daughter.
He is pursued and gets embroiled in an ariel dog-fight with an 'Exor' pilot..........he survives by bailing out of his damaged craft.
On the planets surface he is pulled from the waters where he'd landed by a very cautious and suspicious Sy (Kellan Lutz) who
has every reason to kill anyone working for 'Exor' given his experience in prison which he'd just escaped from.
Kane persuades Sy to help him save his daughter from what was to come......along the way they will meet several weird and
wonderful characters who they will seek help from to reach Kane's daughter in time.
However not only have they got to face the threat from 'Exor' along the way they will also have to encounter the fearsome
creatures that experiments have created. (
The film is set in 6 parts, telling of both Kane's efforts to save his daughter but also of Sy's imprisonment and experiences
including the brutality encountered, the story does eventually tell of how he came to be in prison.
The film, a low-budget effort does have an underlying story-line but does drift trying to tell the secondary side of the tale.
Though the film does have it's moments with some decent action sequences, however there are moments you'll question the
need for.....sadly the fearsome creatures are somewhat less than convincing.
Difficult to recommend in terms of purchasing, (though obviously out of curiosity i did myself) however, if a Sci-Fi fan, look out
for it on a movie-channel perhaps.
Features - Interview with Director Shane Abbess
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 August 2017It promises to be a cross between mad max and star wars and it ended up being a colossal disappointment.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 August 2017Not star wars or Mad Max. This seems like a low budget film given some additional CGI for the space ship dog fight clip (which is the best part to be honest). knowing what I know know having watched it, I will advise others who like Sci fi to wait until it on Amazon/Free view, rather than buy it.
