When I read a book by Alexis Alvarez, I want to be on the inside so badly, to feel what her heroines feel, to feel what kinksters can feel. And that's the biggest accolade I could give. Alexis writes "His Firm Direction" as if it had happened to her and she were closing her eyes and remembering. Every detail so precise. I can feel the slap of Axel's hand on Cleo's ass as she pushes up to welcome her punishment, as she grinds down on his leg wanting punishment and more. I can almost feel her explode when they come together on the sofa, in the bed, on the desk. I can feel the longing she has to give in to her love for him even when it feels hopeless. And I can feel it too as they fit her edges to his, her needs to his, as they click, when they realize their love is possible if they just reach out and claim it. I can feel it because Alexis paints every scene so finely, taking us with her into the characters' heads and hearts, making us believe she's been there, making us believe we're there seeing, watching. I love Cleo. I love Axel. I love "His Firm Direction." But I really love Alexis Alvarez and can't wait to read her next book and her next.

    I love reading about a strong woman who isn't afraid to give voice to her desires. Even if those desires are outside the norm. Cleo never thought sexual submission would be something a strong woman should crave, Axel never thought sweet Cleo would be the woman that would restore his belief in love. They each find something in the other that fulfills and completes them. Hot, sweet, steamy, and oh, so sexy!
