Product description

  • In just eight years, BSC has grown from playing 200-capacity bars to headlining 12,000-capacity U.K. arenas, with many other territories catching up in the wake of such a phenomenal success story.
  • BSC’s last three albums hit No. 1 on the U.K. rock charts – MAGIC MOUNTAIN debuted Top 5 on the U.K. album chart overall.
  • BSC recorded “Kentucky “at Barrick Recording in Glasgow, Kentucky and was produced in the same way and same place as their eponymous debut album, which broke the band out of the small southern backwater and onto the world stage.
  • “Kentucky” is by far the heaviest, most aggressive album the band has ever made and is jam-packed with ‘in your face’ riffs, huge drums, and bass that will shake your teeth.
  • Fans of the genres rock, metal, country and southern rock can all find something to relate to in Black Stone Cherry.
  • Exclusive Behind the Scenes DVD: Featuring the making of Kentucky, the making of and video for 'In Our Dreams' plus inertviews with the band and more.

BSC: Another great album.

BSC: Another great album.
Unlike some other bands, you can rely on BSC to produce consistently high quality albums. This is great stuff. For me, this has a rawer feel than previous albums, catchy but slightly less commercial. The DVD could have more on it but is still an interesting and insightful watch showing where the band have come from to where they are now. I was lucky enough to get a mine on early pre-order with a signed insert!

If you found Magic Mountain to be overproduced and sounding like a band just trying too hard then you will love this album. The production is rich but still raw and this is much more like the Black Stone Cherry of Folklore & Superstition. The songs are really strong and there are no weak tracks on the record. They even manage to do funky while still sounding unmistakably Black Stone Cherry on War and Soul Machine. And Shakin' My Cage may be their best song yet!

The accompanying DVD has some dull bits but is still worth watching to gain an insight into the band's history and the process of making the album.

    Fabulous album.
The pressing is top notch too. Flat on the turntable, no warp, no hiss or background pops.
Will be played often and loudly

If you only ever buy one BSC album, buy this one. They've gone back to the style of the first album - only better. Absolutely love Soul Machine and Cheaper to Drink Alone. Shaking My Cage and In Our Dreams would be amazing performed live and The Rambler shows what a class act Chris Robertson is. Not only can he belt out a song with the best of them he can also sing something truly beautiful, I've been lucky enough to see it performed live and it does give you goose bumps. If you like BSC you should love this!

What’s not to like? BSC are an amazing band both live and on CD and this album does not disappoint. It’s a little bit more bluesy than previous offerings but the band are as good as ever. My favourites are ‘bad habit’ and ‘Southern fried Friday night’ but I also love the slower tempo of ‘My last breath’. A great album.

WOW, this is the definitive BSC sound and I love it, a little older, wiser, heavier, louder and rocks like hell, it's one of those albums that the more you hear it, the more it Rocks. These tunes sound so epic and will be around forever. Also, I was really surprised by the extra DVD with this, it has loads of content and is worth the asking price on it's own.

This album was eagerly anticipated, I've seem them live many times before and think they're a great live act, they seem like really nice guys too and they've written some killer tracks in the past but unfortunately this one has left me a (little) bit cold. It is heavier which isn't a bad thing but it's lacking the anthems of previous albums, its just not as catchy as previous efforts. For me they haven't yet hit the heights of Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, on that album they worked with outside writers but I think it was better because of that. This latest effort doesn't really grab me, I want it to and have listened to it through a few times now but unfortunately it's not ticking all the boxes. That said there are some good tracks on it, In Our Dreams has got a lovely rift and has that classic BSC blend of heaviness combined with a catchy chorus, their cover of War adds something new to the song, Cheaper To Drink Alone is a stand out track and The Rambler is great, even better live though! All in all, not bad but not essential listening. I think they can do better.

I've been a fan of Black Stone Cherry for about 6 years now and I am never disappointed with their music. I love the southern Rock sound and I love their energy all together! I'm so happy that this album came with a digital download so that I can instantly listen to it and not have to wait for my physical copy to get her. Currently, I'm loving the track titled "The Rambler". I would recommend this album to all my friends and family who are into rock/southern rock/maybe even some country. I think their songs have great messages and a lot of emotion behind them.

Tracks included on the album include:

    1. The way of the future - Almost reminds me of "me and merry Jane" at the beginning, but moves on with a great message. My favorite lines of this song are

"Take back control Fight for your soul
Hang on, let's all get offended
    Keep on, poisonin' the system
There's just wrong and there's right
    No black and no white
    No right in this fight
Throw away, everything You been told to believe
    Break away, from these chains
    We're supposed to be free
    Yeah free"

This song just screams that something has to change and makes you really stop and think.

    2. In our Dreams - First of all, if you haven't seen the video for this song yet, you need to get on YouTube right now and check it out! It has a kind of fantasy feel to it, and I LOVE it! I feel like this song also has a positive message about fighting for what's right and the video also goes right along with it.

    3. Shakin' My Cage - This one is pretty catchy and has a great melody to it. Personally, it's not my favorite on the album but it's still a great song and I enjoy it enough that I don't skip it when it comes on.

    4. Soul Machine - This ones definitely one that makes me want to dance. I feel like I have to scream out "S-O-U-L machine with them every time.

    5. Long Ride - This is another one of my favorites from this album! It's a very bitter sweet song, but it definitely one that gives you lots of feels.

    6. War - This one is BSC's version of the 1970's Motown hit, originally performed by Edwin Starr. I personally really enjoy their version just as much, if not more than the original. I think they definitely did it justice.

    7. Hangman - This one is has a great guitar solo and is pretty catchy!

    8. Cheaper to Drink Alone - This one actually kind of makes me laugh. It tells the story of a woman who is very concerned with material items and how you're basically better off just drinking alone so you don't end up broke. It has a great melody as well and I thoroughly enjoy it!

    9. Rescue Me - Honestly, the beginning of this song almost reminds me of a Queen song, with the chorus type vocals. As it progresses it gets more into the typical BSC melody. I feel like this song also has a message to it regarding faith and being saved. I love the vocals and the guitar on this one as well.

    10. Feelin' Fuzzy - This song is great because it uses descriptive words and phrases that, to me, paints the picture of falling down the rabbit hole and waking up in wonderland.

    11. Darkest Secret - This one is has yet another great guitar solo and I love the image it paints in my head when I listen to it. The drums are also one of my favorite parts of this one.

    12. Born to Die - This one's not as morbid as one would think. And truthfully, I love the message to this one. It really hits home for me after losing my mother. It talks about living the life you can be proud of because after all, when it comes to life and death, nobody gets out alive. We were all in fact born to die and we need to make the most of our life right now. You never know what could happen or when your time will come.

    13. The Rambler - This one is my favorite on the entire album. Again, if you haven't seen the video they released for this one, please take a second and do that now! The emotion behind this song is enough to bring you tears. In fact, when they played this song live, I don't think there was a dry eye in the room. The emotion really comes through with the video as well.

Overall, I love this album and it's really about all I've been listening to right now. I also wanted to include some images from the packet and inside cover of the album just to show you a bit more. I've actually met these guys and I have to say, they are some of the nicest, most down to earth guys and I LOVE that they included a bit about them with this album Also, I love all the photography on this one. It really helps the fans see a bit about them, where they came from, and the things that they stand for. As for me, I'll definitely keep listening as long as they keep playing!
