- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 November 2019I bought this excellent book initially as an audiobook... then I bought not one, but two physical copies because I wanted to make sure my best friend and future business partner had the opportunity to read it too. The author has an an impressive knowledge of all aspects of SSAS and he provides all encompassing introduction to SSAS as pension, SSAS as investment, SSAS as bank for your own company, SSAS as multi generational wealth creation vehicle. It is a 'must read' for anyone considering to set up a SSAS and start investing his/her pension. It is the only book available on the subject, and it is so well written that will remain the best one for long time.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 April 2019To my mind, this awesome book is compulsory reading for new and existing SSAS trustees alike. Mark is clearly a gifted author who succeeds in his quest to inform and empower the reader to take control of their pension arrangements through a SSAS vehicle. I remain impressed with the cogent and elucidate subject matter delivery which resonated with me.
I also felt the book strikes the right balance regards raising awareness around the importance of knowing your Trustee responsibilities, SSAS theory and best practice. As evidenced by the pertinent case studies presented. Mark's erudite council permeates the pages of this compelling and riveting read. Which I wholeheartedly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential reading for anyone who wants to take control of their personal finances
This book, which on the face of it is on the boring subject of pensions, is essential reading for anyone who wants to take control of their pension through a SSAS. It is full of important information on how to establish and run a SSAS properly in a way that will maximise your and your family’s long term wealth. Highly recommended for any business owner thinking about - it not thinking about - your pension.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 May 2019Attempts to convince on the virtues of SSAS Pension dominate all through the book. More case examples would have spoken for themselves. Good read though. Highly recommend reading the book.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 May 2019This book helps to explain how to use a SSAS pension to help you achieve financial freedom and leave a legacy for your family and loved ones. If you have a pension you should read it.
Mark gives some great case studies of what he has actually done and loads of SSAS content (see photo).
I think a SSAS pension is going to be my new best friend!

Images in this review - Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 March 2021This is a good primer for anyone who knows nothing about SSAS and wants an authoritative, trustworthy and practical guide to to the the regulation, high level strategies and responsibilities that go with trusteeship. I would also add that the author succeeded in his goal to inspire as well as inform.
However the book disappointed me in a couple of ways. Firstly, I found the writing style to be too chatty and annoyingly replete with exclamation marks. The book is repetitious and lengthy where it need not be and and yet lacking in those areas where I really would have enjoyed a more detailed discussion. (By all means, relegate detailed analysis to an appendix for those readers with the appetite to pore over it but please don't leave it out!)
In particular, I would have hoped for for a greater number of case studies with more or fiscal detail to truly elucidate the benefits of SSAS. There were just two case studies given but the detail was less than you can share on the back of an envelope and the diagrams provided could not be consumed on a kindle.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 31 May 2019Such a well written, comprehensively constructed book highlighting the current concerns regarding options for those looking to transfer their pensions. An unmissable opportunity to enlighten oneself in the detail and potential save a fortune in cost and charges shown in the examples offered. Whilst legal and regulated financial advise is always advocated, Mark's book creates depth in the readers knowledgeable far beyond the ordinary. I will re-read this book several times and hand to my trustees, loved ones and family. Thank you
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 August 2020The book seems to be an elaborate sales pitch for the author's own SSAS product. The information about how SSAS's operate in general terms is lost in the excitement about commercial property development. The book seems to be set on presenting all the potential complications around running one's own SSAS (with of course the sometimes less than subtle references that using his product will solve all these problems). The author repeats the material in places and even in one case quotes himself! This is most definitely not a guide for everyone wishing to open a SSAS or anyone looking for a balanced and comprehensive guide on how to set up one's own SSAS, large or small.
