D. There is audio, but there will be hissing sound.
Noise is generally interference.

- Reviewed in India on 13 September 2024Verified PurchaseFinally I could make my soundbar run 5.1 channel audio with my firetv stick as my old tv doesn't support 5.1 output.
This product is a genius and works well.
The instruction manual inside it is not accurate because it's of something else, but anyway..ensure you've an extra HDMI and Optical cable if you plan to use this.
Also Also, no HDMI CEC. So the external HDMI device can no longer control your TV from HDMI (such as waking up from sleep, switch inputs, etc.) (which is fine to most extent, you can just use your normal TV remote).
also good thing is that it outputs the audio in HDMI as well as the optical simultanesouly.
lol because of that now I usually sit with 4 remotes (Fire TV, Speaker, TV, Setup box) It's funny.

- Reviewed in India on 20 October 2024Verified PurchaseThis is a very good and useful product for using with TVs not having Dolby facilities. The audio can be played through the soundbar in its original quality using this audio extractor and connecting it to the sound bar through Optical Cable. The audio playback has the same quality as if it is played through a TV having dolby features and connected to the soundbar through ARC.

5.0 out of 5 stars Handy device for your AV toolbox
This is a handy little device for your AV toolbox. I have used it with a few different devices connected to a portable projector. The project has absolutely terrible audio, and I want to minimize the extra cabling running to it. So having this device near the HDMI source (a Blu-ray player used for both playing discs and from USB media), makes it easier to keep the wiring tidy and out of the way.

1.0 out of 5 stars I doesn't pass video...sort of
Verified PurchaseThis device will not pass video. It receives a signal which it can extract the audio from but it will not pass it along to the output. Maybe it is just a defective unit. Maybe it is incompatible with the signal I was sending in to it. Who knows. For me, it does not work and I don't want to waste the time trying to figure out why. I moved on to something else that is able to accomplish what I need done.

3.0 out of 5 stars Does What It Says but ...
I got this to separate the audio for my older sound system so I could only use it for the simple stereo outputs. Most newer audio systems already have HDMI audio extraction. My systems consisted of a laptop, a big screen and a stereo amplifier and speakers.
The Audio Converter arrived in good shape. I noticed a misprint on the HDMI input port - it was marked as output. At first, I could not get the thing to work. My computer kept thinking there was no audio connection, so it did not hook it up. When I switched to a fire stick as my video source, the HDMI converter worked fine.
I did not think too much of the audio quality. It seems a bit noisy. The video quality is fine. The unit is well made and should last for years but I ended up not using it very long because I upgraded my sound system.
Overall, the unit did not meet my expectations. It did what it said it was going to do but it did not work in the setup I got it for, and the sound quality was not the greatest.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mostly great, but one dealbreaker for me
I'll start by saying that this device does what the product listing describes: it takes in an HDMI signal on the input port and sends it (mostly) intact through the HDMI output port, but also outputs the audio portion of the signal through the SPDIF and RCA connectors. I had no issue using the SPDIF port to send a 5.1 channel audio signal from my Fire TV stick to my amplifier. I also tried out using the stereo RCA ports, which also worked as advertised.
My one issue, which is admittedly niche, is that CEC signals on the HDMI input appear to be dropped in the output. CEC typically allows you to control one device from another when they're connected together via HDMI; for example, my Fire TV stick can turn on my projector via HDMI CEC, and my projector can send control signals from its remote to my Fire TV stick so I don't have to use two remotes. For some reason the CEC signals don't propagate through the splitter. I wasn't sure if this was a limitation of this specific audio extractor or just something that all audio extractors suffer from, but after trying another audio extractor that DOES pass the CEC signals I can safely say that this one drops them.
In summary, all the features of the device work, it's easy to set up, and it feels solidly constructed, but the inability to pass CEC signals is unfortunately a dealbreaker for me. I was conflicted on docking a star since the device isn't advertised as supporting CEC, but I figured in the end that it's not 5 stars for me specifically.
