Recensioni clienti
The introduction contains a short overview of yoga in the 20th century and some ideas about the future.
In the following chapter the vital principles of movement and postures are outlined and then each asana is thoroughly described down to the smallest detail, along with its variations.
Some basic postures are described and explained so exhaustively that you will need several days to go through each of them and digest all the information. When it comes to yoga, reading is not enough, you will have to try out each suggestion in your own practice.
Three pages are dedicated to the art of standing and three on the art of simply sitting.
All this derives from the living experience of the author, who also gives us some of her insights about yoga as a spiritual path.
The only drawback of this book is that it doesn't suggest alternatives for beginners or for those who suffer from backache or other problems, so the average reader will not be able to perform many of the asanas presented in the photographs.
However, this is an invaluable book, which you will continue to read over and over again, always finding something new and interesting. So it's worth having it, despite the high price.
